Ingredients:
- 1 pound crumbled ground beef
- 1 diced yellow onion
- 3-4 pounds potatoes, peeled and sliced
- 8 ounces or more shredded Cheddar Cheese
- 1 can of Cheddar Cheese soup mix
- 12 ounces of evaporated milk or whole milk
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and spray a 9×13 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and onion until the meat is done.
- Layer the sliced potatoes at the bottom of the baking dish and sprinkle them with salt and pepper.
- Spread approximately 1/3 of the cooked meat mixture evenly over the potatoes, then sprinkle with 1/3 of the shredded cheese. Repeat this process twice more.
- The final layer should be the remaining shredded cheese.
- In a bowl, combine the Cheddar cheese soup mix, milk, and evaporated milk. Pour this mixture over the top of the potatoes and beef.
- Cover the baking pan with aluminum foil and bake for one hour. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes to get a golden topping on the cheese.
- If the potatoes are thicker, bake for a longer duration.
