Double Fudge Cake

  Ingredients:

– 1 package (4 oz.) BAKER’S Unsweetened Chocolate
– 1 ¾ cups sugar, divided
– ½ cup water
– 1 2/3 cups flour
– 1 teaspoon baking soda
– ¼ teaspoon salt
– ½ cup softened butter or margarine
– 3 eggs
– ¾ cup milk
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  Directions:

1. In a large microwaveable bowl, combine the unsweetened chocolate, 1/2 cup sugar, and water. Microwave on HIGH for 2 minutes or until the chocolate is nearly melted, stirring after 1 minute. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted. Allow it to cool.

2. Mix the flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl. In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and the remaining sugar with a mixer until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in the flour mixture alternately with the milk. Add the cooled chocolate mixture and vanilla extract; mix thoroughly.

3. Pour the batter evenly into two greased and floured 9-inch round cake pans.

4. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the centers comes out clean. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them onto wire racks to cool completely.

5. Once cooled, fill and frost the cakes with Easy Chocolate Frosting or your preferred frosting.

Enjoy the rich and decadent Double Fudge Cake!
