Wet Burritos Recipe

  Ingredients:

– 1 pound ground beef
– 1/2 cup diced onion
– 2 teaspoons minced garlic
– 1 teaspoon ground cumin
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
– 4.5 ounces diced green chile peppers
– 16 ounces refried beans
– 8 ounces tomato sauce
– 10 ounces enchilada sauce
– 15 ounces no-beans chili (Hormel)
– 6 large flour burrito tortillas (approximately 12 inches)
– 2 cups shredded lettuce
– 3 cups shredded Mexican blend cheese
– Chopped green onions (for garnish)
– Additional desired toppings

  Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

2. In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef and diced onion until the meat is evenly browned and the onion softens.

3. Drain excess grease from the skillet. Season the beef and onion mixture with minced garlic, ground cumin, salt, and black pepper. Stir in the diced green chile peppers and refried beans until thoroughly combined. Keep warm and set aside.

4. In a saucepan, combine the tomato sauce, no-beans chili, and enchilada sauce. Whisk the mixture together and heat over medium heat until warmed through. Set aside, keeping it warm.

5. Divide the beef and bean mixture into 6 portions in the skillet.

6. On a plate, place a burrito-sized tortilla and add 1/6th of the ground beef mixture onto the center of the tortilla. Top with a bit of cheese and lettuce (optional; omit if desired). Feel free to incorporate or add other preferred vegetables.

7. Fold the left and right sides of the tortilla over the filling, securing it with your fingers. Then fold the top and bottom sides of the tortilla over the filling, overlapping to seal the burrito (similar to an envelope).

8. Repeat the filling and folding process with the remaining 5 tortillas.

9. Place the prepared burritos seam side down in two greased 9 x 13-inch oven-safe dishes.

10. Pour the warmed sauce mixture evenly over the top of the burritos.

11. Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheese evenly over all the burritos.

12. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until the burritos are thoroughly heated and the cheese is melted.

13. Serve the baked wet burritos, topping them with more lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, dried chives, or any desired toppings before enjoying.
